Position Overview

The Manager plays a critical leadership role, from the initial scoping of projects through presentation of findings. You will assist in framing issues for clients, writing proposals, coaching and developing the Team, and managing day-to-day workings of engagements. You will facilitate and participate in analyses, quality checks, and development of insights with the team, including directors.

 

Responsibilities:

Will broadly cover two areas:

Head of Team:

Work with a team of about 15 Analysts to manage staffing and delivery of day-to-day research products to our offshore consulting teams, ensuring timely delivery to the highest standards.
Manage cross-team relationships with Directors, Managers, Consultants and Analysts on U.S.-based project teams, and coordinate staffing, scope and delivery.
Develop the team, participating in recruiting and training events to ensure constant pipeline of locally- and foreign-educated talent through Stax’s 2-year analyst program.

Develop and Lead Regional Consulting Practice:

As part of the leadership team of Stax Colombo, be an ambassador of Stax at key networking and corporate functions in Sri Lanka and take a lead role in cultivating and developing regional/local clients.
Secure new project wins by responding to RFP’s and working with Directors and other team leads to scope and price projects.
Manage and deliver strategy projects for regional clients working with cross-functional analysts from our Research and Consulting, Data Analytics and Consumer Insights teams, ensuring timely completion within project budget. Minimal international travel (1-2 trips a year) may be required depending on client needs.

 

Requirements:

MBA or equivalent, and at least 5 years of relevant experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, private equity community, market research or corporate advisory roles; out of which a minimum of 3 years should be in program or project management.
Experience managing, coaching, and developing team members to enhance performance and encourage professional development.
Quantitative research skills a plus.
Prior international experience (professional or academic) is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will be unafraid of ambiguity, and be able to operate with limited guidance and structure, adapting quickly to changing office/company/market dynamics.
“An eye-to-close” and “a cool head” –We operate under very tight timelines with a typical project spanning 3-6 weeks, and you will be involved in several of these at a given time. The ideal candidate will remain composed under pressure,  and constantly look to bring projects to a close.
